AKSA (Akrilic Kimya Sanayii A.Ş., Istanbul, Turkey), one of the world’s largest acrylic manufacturers, commands 11 percent of that polymer’s global production capacity. The company recently confirmed its intentions to produce carbon fiber beginning in 2008.
AKSA has selected DeLong and Associates, LLC as its sales representatives for the Americas. The business strategy formulated by DeLong and AKSA primarily focuses on industrial converters of carbon fiber for a wide range of composite components and processes.
Founded in 1968, AKSA is a subsidiary of the Akkök Group, which maintains activities in chemicals, textiles, energy, real estate and retailing as well as education. Akkök revenues were $1.6 billion (USD) in 2007. AKSA’s huge facility has ample energy resources including an onsite coal-fired generator and plentiful room for fiber lines.
Development Strategy
AKSA has maintained the pace of investing in pilot product development facilities during 2007, while aiming to increase its share of special products within total production and finalized these to a considerable extent. With carbon fiber as its new business line, Aksa intends to generate additional business lines by investing in polymer science technology and plans to continue its pursuits in this direction.
In 2007, the Company sustained efforts initiated in 2006 toward its target for the production of carbon fiber for industrial sector materials and sports equipment. Following the completion of the project and investment, Aksa will produce 34 tons of carbon fiber annually starting in the second half of 2008 and raising this volume to 1,500 tons per year from the second half of 2009.

DQS Certificate 2008 -AKSA's quality management system has been ISO certified for several years. The current DQS Certificate for acrylic fiber manufacturing was issued in 2008 and is valid until 2011
Responsible Care: In 2006, for the first time a corporate body (SGS, UK) carried out an audit on the Triple Responsibility Management System at AKSA regarding the application of Triple Responsibility Commitment. AKSA is proud to have obtained the highest points at the end of the audit. AKSA was honored with a “Triple Responsibility Management System Certificate”. The certificate is valid between 2006-2009.
